[close] Transcriberer

Transcriberer is a tool to assist with transcribing local audio files released under the GPLv3 licence. It exposes convenient keyboard shortcuts for playback control and time stamp insertion without the text input area losing focus.

It was written to assist with the creation of shownotes for SteamLUG Cast and for transcribing audio interviews for Cheese Talks by @Cheeseness.

The types of audio files which can be opened is dependent upon the types of audio files that your browser is capable of playing in a HTML5 audio element.

Source can be found in the Transcriberer GitLab repository, and an unmodified version can be found at Transcriberer web page.

With the text area in focus (they will not work otherwise), the following controls are available:

Some basic customisation options are avaialbe as URL parameters.

By default, Transcriberer will insert timestamps with the following format "hh:mm:ss " which was the format used for SteamLUG Cast's shownotes. This can be changed by adding the ts parameter with a string value that includes one or more of the following along with any desired additional characters:

Example URL appropriate for Simple LRC: http://transcriberer.jbushproductions.com/?ts=[mmm:ss.SS]

Wrap guide

If a wrap guide is desirable, adding the g parameter with an integer value will give a wrap guide at that number of characters plus the width of the timestamp string.

Example URL appropriate for video subtitles: http://transcriberer.jbushproductions.com/?g=120
